The prime suspect in the Madeleine McCanninvestigation has claimed he was 150 yards from her holiday apartment on the night of her disappearance.
Christian Brueckner, a convicted rapist and paedophile, said he was "selling drugs" on a beach near where the McCanns were staying in Praia da Luz and described his "quick getaway" after police were called to the Portuguese resort.
The German is suspected of kidnapping and killing the three-year-old in 2007 while her parents Gerry and Kate McCann dined with friends 100 yards away.
